Travel Grants
This grant was created to benefit Health Sciences students participating in one of the Global Health Alliance Programs or medical students planning an international elective during their fourth year.
Selection Criteria
Minimum requirements:
- Be a graduate student enrolled in one of the Health Sciences Colleges, or an undergraduate in nursing
- Have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA, if applicable
- Not on probation for any reason
Applicants will be selected based on their academic performance, quality of their essay, evidence of a sincere interest in tropical medicine or global health, and potential for enhancing international collaborative possibilities.
Along with the completed application form, you must:
- Submit a two-page (single-sided, double-spaced) essay of your reasons for wanting to participate, what you feel you will both contribute and gain through this experience, what you anticipate the experience to be like, including how it will specifically benefit your education and the Global Health Alliance.
- Include all supporting documents with your name at the top of each page.
- Provide the names and contact information of three references. At least one of these references should be from a faculty member in your program of study.
- Provide the contact name of an administrative coordinator within your program of study for verification of academic standing.
- If selected for a travel grant, submit a thank you letter that can be sent to various donors who have contributed to make these grants possible.
**Students are eligible for one UUGHA Travel Grant per academic year**

Please complete the application using the fill-in fields provided, save the application and then send the application as an email attachment to uugha@hsc.utah.edu. Your application can also be submitted in paper form by sending it to:

Applications will be evaluated by the UUGHA Finance Committee, which meets quarterly. Grants will be announced after the Committee has met.

An application received after the deadline for the program/elective you are participating in will be considered at the following quarter’s UUGHA Finance Committee Meeting. Incomplete applications (lacking any one or more of the aforementioned items) will not be considered.
