2007 Medical Alumni Weekend

The 2007 Alumni Weekend was a great success. University of Utah School of Medicine Alumni, friends, colleagues, and classmates gathered for a variety of entertaining and rewarding events. An outstanding Awards Banquet was held Thursday evening recognizing the contributions of Dr. Elizabeth Hale Hammond and Dr. Jay Jacobson. As well, a recognition ceremony was provided to honor the half-century class of 1957.
Friday morning current and former faculty, house staff, and reunion class members gathered for a morning of information and instructional lectures. Participating departments included the Department of Biomedical Informatics, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Surgery, Internal Medicine, Pathology, and Orthopaedics. Following the department events, David J. Bjorkman, Dean of the School of Medicine provided a medical school update to attendees. Later that day, the Alumni Open Golf Tournament was held at Stonebridge Golf Course. Finally, Friday evening saw the Classes of 1962, 1967, 1972, 1982, 1987, 1992, and 1997 gather at Little America Hotel for their respective reunions. The classes of 1977 and 2002 held their reunions at off-site locations.
Saturday morning, a Continuing Medical Education conference was held at Alumni Hall. Unraveling the Message Within: The Physician’s Guide to Genetics in the 21st Century. A prestigious gathering of the best of the University of Utah provided information and materials on genetics relevant to the medical community.
Finally, the weekend ended with a tailgating barbecue at the Alumni House and the exciting University of Utah versus UCLA football game, where the Utes pulled off a stunning victory!
