How to Apply
Applicants for CA-1 residency positions should apply through the Electronic Resident Application Service (ERAS) (a service which transmits residency applications, letters of recommendation (3), dean’s letter, transcripts, USMLE Scores, and other supporting credentials to residency programs using the internet). In addition the department welcomes inquires about our program via email.
The University of Utah Department of Anesthesiology requires the following documentation for a residency application to be considered complete:
- ERAS application
- Personal statement
- USMLE transcript
- Medical school transcript
- At least three letters of recommendation
When the program receives all required documentation for an application, they are screened by a review committee, and selected applicants are invited for a personal interview. This is an essential part of the application process, which benefits both the applicant and the department. The University of Utah Department of Anesthesiology is a participant in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP).
The University of Utah Office for Health Equity and Inclusion offers a Residency Travel Stipend Program which provides travel support for 4th year medical students who identify as underrepresented in medicine and who have been offered a residency interview at the University of Utah. This program provides up to $1000 in reimbursement. For applicants applying to residency programs that cover lodging and food, up to $250 in travel cost will be reimbursed.
