My scholarly emphasis centers on solid neoplasms in children and young adults and soft tissue tumors. My ongoing research emphasizes clinicopathologic, molecular, and comparative pathologic aspects of sarcomas of childhood, adolescence, and young adulthood. These include Ewing sarcoma (in collaboration with a multidisciplinary Catalyst Grant funded by the University of Utah), synovial sarcoma (mouse model with Malay Haldar, Ph.D., and Mario Capecchi, Ph.D., Eccles Genetic Research Institute), undifferentiated sarcomes (in collaboration with the Huntsman Cancer Institute Sarcoma Group), desmoid fibromatosis (in collaboration with the Huntsman Cancer Institute Sarcoma Group), Gardner fibroma (in collaboration with the pathologists at Harvard University), inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor (in collaboration with pathologists at Harvard University and elsewhere), and liposarcoma (in collaboration with pathologists at the Mayo Clinic and the University of Padova, Italy). I am the lead review pathologist for a recently opened therapeutic trial of pediatric non-rhabdomyosarcoma soft tissue sarcomas sponsored by the Children's Oncology Group.
