If SDBC collaboration is involved during the preparation of a grant application, then funding for SDBC collaborator support should be part of the application. Support can be budgeted either through %FTE or number of hours to be invoiced monthly. The SDBC will work with you to determine the appropriate budget.

It is expected that the SDBC collaborator will be involved in all aspects of study development, including study design, randomization procedures, determining measures, data collection procedures, sample size calculations and data analysis. Requests for sample size calculations without prior involvement of the SDBC collaborator in developing the study design and analysis plans are usually problematic and are discouraged.

The SDBC collaborator will review the final grant application prior to submission to ensure consistency in the design, analysis and sample size consideration sections.
