It’s permissible to distribute SAVE-THE-DATE cards, send e-mail blasts or post a web page prior to UUCME’s approval of your CME Plan as long as it contains nothing more than the name of the activity, date and location. If more specific information is included, such as faculty names, topics, objectives or conference highlights, then your CME plan must first be approved and you must include the ACCME accreditation statement.
ACCME Accreditation Statement
For directly sponsored activities
The University of Utah is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
For jointly sponsored activities
This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint sponsorship of The University of Utah and (name of non-accredited provider). The University of Utah is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
Activity announcements, publicity brochures and course materials such as the syllabus must include the ACCME Accreditation Statement and the AMA Credit Designation Statement. All publicity, such as brochures, and web sites must be approved by UUCME prior to distribution. Brochure graphic design, printing and mailing services are available through University Print and Mail Services.
The learning format listed in the credit designation statement must be one of the following AMA approved learning formats:
- Live activity
- Enduring material
- Journal-based CME activity
- Test-item writing activity
- Manuscript review activity
- PI CME activity
- Internet point-of-care activity
