Peter de Schweinitz, MD, MSPH
Peter de Schweinitz, MD, MSPH is a board-certified family physician and Visiting Instructor in the Division of Public Health. After completing training at the University of Virginia and Utah Valley Family Medicine Residency, he worked in Fort Kent, Maine as a National Health Service Corps Scholar, Portland, Oregon for Providence Health Systems, and Provo, Utah for Mountainlands Community Health Center. From 2007-2009 he completed the University of Utah Department of Family and Preventive Medicine Faculty Development Primary Care Research Fellowship, focusing his research on the organizational dynamics of the Barekuma Collaborative Community Development Project (Ghana). Dr. de Schweinitz’s academic interests include social and family medicine, public health ethics, and global health. He works part-time (family medicine with obstetrics) at Chief Andrew Isaac Health Center in Fairbanks, Alaska and is currently developing an international service-research collaboration in western Guatemala in partnership with his former anthropology professor. He enjoys theatrical performance, various sports, foreign languages, and narrative writing. With his wife and two children he enjoys alpine and cross-country skiing, and Sunday walks up Hobble Creek Canyon.
