Mary Jann Dewitt, PhD

Dr. DeWittJann is a clinical psychologist who received her Ph.D. from the University of Utah. She was born in Utah and grew up in a small town in Oklahoma. She earned a bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Missouri-Columbia and then worked as a newspaper reporter. From 1972 to 1975 she lived in Mogadishu, Somalia and taught in the American Embassy School. This school had students from 30 countries and provided a rich cross-cultural experience. Subsequently, Jann taught in the public schools in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. She moved to Salt Lake City in 1979 to pursue a career in psychology. Since joining the Department of Family and Preventive Medicine, Jann has been involved in educating health care providers about HIV through the AIDS Education and Training Center. Her clinical interests include working with AIDS patients, people with other physical disabilities, cross-cultural clients and single mothers. Jann practices at the U Family Health Center and Northeast Family Health. She is married and has two adult daughters.
