John C. Houchins, MD
Dr. Houchins received his medical degree from Rush University in Chicago, and graduated from the University of Utah Family Medicine Residency Program. He spent the first 11 years of his career working at the Salt Lake Community Health Centers before joining the University of Utah faculty full-time in 1997. His areas of special medical interest include obstetrics, preventive health and indigent health care. His research interests revolve around communication in the healthcare setting. He enjoys teaching students of various levels, including physician assistants, nurse practitioners, medical students, and residents, and has received several teaching awards for this. He is also the current medical director of the Physician Assistant training program within the DFPM.
