Studies in Aerospace Medicine
Prerequisites: Junior Clinical Clerkships and consent of instructor. This course is designed to teach basic principles and practice of aerospace medicine. Teaching will include student-faculty discussion, assigned readings, and problem-solving sessions allowing the student to achieve the following objectives: (1) describe the environmental, physiological, and clinical principles and aspects of aerospace medicine; (2) evaluate clinical conditions and delineate pathophysiology involved; (3) develop appropriate programs to manage typical clinical problems; (4) define environmental and physiological hazards and stressors; and (5) apply relevant principles and techniques in controlling or preventing hazards or stressors. Students will have rotations at the University or other sites based upon a learning plan and objectives developed by the instructor and the student. Open to University of Utah students only. Interested students should contact Dr. Moser prior to senior registration (no later than March 1st) for instructor consent and preliminary planning for a project. Minimum 4 weeks.
