Giving To the Division:
The Division of Public Health is actively engaged in addressing critical issues that impact health. Our work involves education, service and research on issues such as Environmental Health, how the built environment is contributing to the obesity epidemic, fertility issues, drug overdose in Utah, and many others. We also extend past the borders of Utah through our efforts in the Office of Global Health. We are working on health and sustainability issues in Ghana, with cancer prevention and treatment among American Indian communities in the intermountain west, refugee health in and around Salt Lake City and plan to expand into South America, China, and India in the near future.
We invite you to join with us by helping to support our efforts.

Your gift can take a variety of forms, including cash, stocks and bonds, planned estate gifts, and pledges. It can be restricted and used only as you specify, or unrestricted and applied to the area of greatest need within the Department of Internal Medicine.
Cash Gifts: Outright gifts of cash, checks or credit/debit card transactions.
Matching Gifts: Many employers sponsor matching gift programs and will match charitable contributions made by their employees. To find out if your company has a matching gift policy, please follow this link http://ugive.utah.edu/ways/index.html and click on Matching Gifts Employer Search , entering your employer’s name. If your company will match your gift, please obtain a form from your human resources office and submit it along with your donation.
Stock Gifts: Individuals who transfer stock can receive a charitable tax deduction and avoid capital gains tax. As always, consult your tax advisor before transferring stocks or bonds.
Planned Gifts: For many donors, an outright gift is not the best option. Carefully planned gifts can offer significant estate-tax and income benefits, while at the same time allowing donors to make larger gifts to the University than would otherwise be possible.
Pledges: A pledge can be paid out over a period of three to five years, and allows the donor to commit to a larger gift amount, while enjoying the tax benefits of the actual amount given in a specific calendar year. Many endowments are funded this way.
Endowed Gifts: An endowed fund is a permanent source of support for the institution and is an excellent vehicle for honoring someone important to you. Faculty endowments are powerful incentives for attracting and retaining exceptional physicians and scientists, thereby raising the visibility of the department and the University. Such gifts are invested by the University to generate annual income, and a portion of the return on the fund is used to support the purpose chosen by the donor. The balance of interest and the appreciation remains in the fund so that the principal continues to grow and keep pace with inflation.
We invite you to partner with us in securing the future of the vital research being done here in Utah. For information on these options and any other philanthropic questions you may have, please contact:
