About the Program

This program is an established partnership with the African and African American community of Salt Lake City through New Pilgrim Baptist Church. Through their existing youth outreach program, AWANA, we meet once a month at the church for an activity in science or medicine.

Coordinators focus on health issues affecting the community such as diabetes and accompanying organ complications, genetics and sickle cell anemia, and cardiovascular disease.

The program welcomes guest speakers from various disciplines.
