Association of Minority Medical Students

students The Association of Minority Medical Students is active at the University of Utah engaging in community partnerships serving underrepresented and disadvantaged youth and premedical students through outreach programs.

The majority of the programs are science related with the hope of inspiring students of all ages to pursue careers in medicine. Please visit the K-12 Activities as well as the Pre-medical Students page to learn more about the various outreach programs.

In addition to the participation in outreach events, AMMS meets monthly for round table discussions with deans, faculty, guest lecturers, and staff.

The American Medical Women’s Association

The American Medical Women’s Association is strong at the University of Utah School of Medicine. Women medical students are active in engaging premedical women in the pursuit of a medical career and offer support and resources. Because of the outstanding mentoring and assistance women premedical students received from AMWA members, the University of Utah began a new Premedical AMWA organization Fall 2007.

Premedical women will be able to take advantage of the conferences and resources the larger AMWA can provide. Both AMWA and Premed AMWA have regularly scheduled meetings and events.

Utah Medical Association's Women in Medicine Group

The Utah Medical Association’s Women’s group and the Office of Diversity and Community Outreach have partnered to provide education, mentoring and resources for women faculty and medical and premedical students.

Monthly, UMA-WIM sponsors a dinner and lecture (faculty members can receive LCME credit). The topics vary monthly and are free for faculty, residents and invited medical and premedical students.
