Medical Students
We at the Office of Diversity and Community Outreach are dedicated to maintaining and developing an accepting environment for diversity at the University Of Utah School Of Medicine. Our mission is to recruit and retain medical students of color in higher education, promote a supportive social network, educate the public and one another about health issues in diversity, and promote awareness about social, political and economic issues as they relate to diversity at our institution.
There are many organizations in which medical students participate. The resources here will take you to a few chapters and organizations we have at the University of Utah School of Medicine.
The Association of Minority Medical Students (AMMS)
The members of this organization are medical students of color (students who identify as African/African American/Black, American Indian/Alaskan Native/Native American, Asian/Asian American, Latino/Hispanic/Chicano, Pacific Islander). Students are supported and retained through various events, forms, and meetings throughout their years in medical school and as a medical student of color we invite you to attend and participate in these various events.
