Academic Bio

Dr. Bentz is the Chief of the Otolaryngology service at the Salt Lake City Veterans Administration Hospital, and serves on a number of committees in various organizations related to Ear, Nose and Throat and cancers. He is a reviewer for seven different medical journals. Dr. Bentz is a member of a familial paraganglioma study group examining several large families that harbor a genetic mutation that predisposes these family members to these types of tumors. Furthermore, he is studying a particular type of mutation that is prominent in thyroid cancers. He has lectured throughout the country and overseas on clinical and research aspects of Head and Neck Cancer. Dr. Bentz enjoys skiing, running, camping and fly fishing. He has three wonderful boys, including twins, who are his entire life.
