Academic Bio

Dr. Gu received his M.D. in Medicine in 1990 from the Fourth Military Medical University in Changhai, China. He has continued his interests in Anatomic and Molecular Pathology and earned a Postdoctoral Fellowship from Vanderbilt University, Department of pathology in 2002. He continued his studies in Pathology as a Senior Fellow at the University of Washington, Department of Pathology and as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Department of Urologic Surgery in 2007. As Dr. Gu's interests and expertise increased, he became a Clinical Cytogenetics Fellow at The University of Utah, Department of Pathology/ ARUP Laboratories in 2010, completing his Fellowship in June 2012. Dr. Gu's 22 years of expertise in the field of pathology, along with his interests in cancer genetics, qualified him to became one of the Medical Directors in Cytogenetics and Genomic Microarray.

Dr. Gu has written numerous journal articles, book chapters and other publications and has given several National and International presentations. He is a member of the American College of Medical Genetics and College of American Pathologists, and has received several outstanding and national awards for his work.
