About:
John is a medical geneticist who trained in Iowa and Wisconsin. He is the founder and former editor-in-chief of The American Journal of Medical Genetics from 1977-2000 and continues with that publication as associate editor. Dr. Opitz was a founding member of the American Board of Medical Genetics and the AmericanCollege of Medical Genetics. He has authored over 500 peer-reviewed publications. He has practiced in Iowa, Wisconsin, Montana and in Utah and is an internationally sought genetics speaker. Dr. Opitz is the course master for the genetic counseling course in Developmental Pathology and Genetics.
