The Center for Global Surgery is uniquely positioned within an Academic Hospital context in a world-class research institution to gain insight into what works and what doesn’t in the practice of global surgery. We believe in research projects and capacity building missions that monitor for outcomes beyond the immediate term, and that include an evaluation of intended and unintended consequences within the systems we seek to strengthen.  Pursuant of our mission and placement within the Department of Surgery, we aspire to support the work of our faculty and their colleagues within low & middle-income countries to design surgical training programs that demonstrate joint problem-solving and effective scholarship.
