A. Wayne Meikle, M.D. completed undergraduate studies at Utah State University and medical school at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. He completed his internship and residency at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. He completed a fellowship in endocrinology at the University of Utah. Dr. Meikle is board certified in internal medicine and endocrinology. He has been on the faculty of the Department of Medicine at the University of Utah since July 1972, and is a Professor of Medicine and Pathology. Dr. Meikle has served as Director of the Clinical Research Center at the University of Utah and has been Director of the Endocrine Testing Laboratory at ARUP since 1992. Dr. Meikle is a nationally and internationally recognized researcher in the inheritance of prostate disease, the regulation of prostate cancer growth and hormone replacement therapy in men with testosterone deficiency. Clinically, Dr. Meikle manages patients with thyroid (including thyroid ultrasonography), pituitary, gonadal, bone diseases, vitamin D deficiency and diabetes.
