ARUP Laboratories, named after the Associated Regional University Pathologists who founded it, is a national reference laboratory, offering clinical and anatomic pathology testing and consultation to physicians and hospitals across most of the nation.

The George E. Wahlen Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Salt Lake City services a large geographical region including Utah, Colorado, Nevada, Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming. A 121-bed hospital specializing in cardiology, oncology, and amputee care, the Salt Lake City VA Hospital treats more than 5,000 inpatients and 500,000 outpatients each year, providing a unique learning environment for the University of Utah School of Medicine. With more than 15,000 veterans aged 65 or older treated per year, the VA also supports research and training for the region's aging veteran population.

The Huntsman Cancer Institute (HCI) houses both a hospital and research facility to allow physicians and scientists to work together toward discovering both fundamental causes of and new treatments for cancer. Utilizing the latest technology and treatments, HCI is uniquely poised to advance the understanding of cancer and improve the quality of life for those with cancer.
