Education and Training:
- After serving as a research and development engineer. Dr. Burlew completed his premedical undergraduate training at the University of Michigan. He completed medical school at Northwestern University then completed his medical training, including serving as Chief Medical Resident, at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, where he also completed his cardiology training, including interventional cardiology.
- Dr. Burlew, over the course of twenty plus years, served as Director of the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit, the Director of the Cardiovascular Catheterization Laboratory and eventually as Section Chief of the Cardiovascular Service at the University of Tennessee, Memphis.
Clinical Specialties:
- Dr. Burlew's clinical practice includes invasive and interventional cardiology as well as bedside teaching of general clinical cardiology.
Research Interests:
- Research interests include heart failure, particularly with preserved LV systolic function, and the utilization of drug-eluting stents in diabetic patients.
