For over 50 years, our cardiologists, nurses and staff of the Cardiology Division at the University of Utah have created a dedicated team to provide high quality cardiovascular care to Utahns and residents throughout the Intermountain West. Our service mission to our patients and their families is firmly linked to our chartered commitment to cutting-edge treatment of cardiac diseases through discovery, research and education, especially by our next generation of cardiovascular specialists.
From pioneering work on the first artificial heart to discovering the genetic basis for cardiac sudden death and the long QT syndrome, the rich legacy of our clinical and research faculty continues today through our nationally-recognized cardiovascular fellowship program, advanced programs in clinical electrophysiology, and discovery of new causes of heart and vascular diseases.
Such integration of our research, educational and clinical programs enables us to individualize your care, from a wide selection of cutting-edge treatments, in the emerging era of cardiovascular personalized medicine.

Professor and Cardiologist Ivor J. Benjamin, MD, recently received the prestigious NIH 2009 Pioneer Award.
This $2.5 million award will allow Dr. Benjamin and his laboratory team and colleagues to research how "reductive stress" may damage the heart and other organs. More Information.
