2023-2024 - Third Year Fellows

Dr. Emad Albayouk is a third year Cardiovascular Disease fellow who received his medical degree from the King Saud Bin Abdulaziz University in 2016. He completed his internal medicine residency here at the University of Utah in 2021. He completed his first and second years of Cardiovascular Disease fellowship with our program.

Dr. McHale Anderson is a third year Cardiovascular Disease fellow who received his medical degree from  the University of Washington in 2018. He completed his internal medicine residency at the University of Colorado in 2021. He has completed his first and second years of his cardiovascular disease fellowship here at the University of Utah Hospital.

Dr. Thomas Anderson is a third year Cardiovascular Disease fellow who received his medical degree here from the University of Utah in 2018. He completed his internal medicine residency here at the University of Utah in 2021 and has completed his first and second years of his Cardiovascular Disease fellowship here at the University of Utah as well.

Dr. Scott Brewster is a third year Cardiovascular Disease fellow who received his medical degree from Saint Louis University in 2017. He completed his internal medicine residency here at the University of Utah in 2021 after being Chief Resident his final year. He also has completed his first and second years of his Cardiovascular Disease fellowship here at the University of Utah Hospital.

Dr. Miguel Chavez Cavazos is a third year Cardiovascular Disease fellow who received his medical degree from the Tecnológico de Monterrey Escuela de Medicina in 2017. He completed his internal medicine residency at the Houston Methodist Hospital in 2021. He has completed his first and second years of his Cardiovascular Disease fellowship here at the University of Utah Hospital.

Dr. Maranda Herner is a third year Cardiovascular Disease fellow who received her medical degree from the College of Osteopathic Medicine of The Pacific at Pomona in 2018. She completed her internal medicine residency at the Colorado University Anschutz Medical Campus in 2021. She has completed her first and second years of her Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship here at the University of Utah Hospital.

She completed her internal medicine residency at the Univeristy of Iowa - Des Moines (at Unity Point Health) in 2021. She has completed her first and second years of her Cardiovascular Disease fellowship here at the University of Utah Hospital.

Dr. Drew Baird is a second year Cardiovascular Disease fellow. He graduated from Medical School from Buffalo School of Medicine in 2018. He finished his residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in 2021 and then spent a year doing an Advanced Hospital Medicine Clinical Scholars Program at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus.

Dr. Bobby Endo is a second year Cardiovascular Disease fellow. He graduated from Medical School from the University of Washington School of Medicine in 2019. He then finished his residency at Brigham and Women's Hospital at the Harvard Medical Center in 2022.

Dr. Andy Gagel is a second year Cardiovascular Disease fellow. He graduated from Medical School from the University of Texas Medical School at Houston in 2019. He completed his residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital in 2022.

Dr. Josh Goldberg is a second year Cardiovascular Disease fellow who received his medical degree from Albany Medical College of Union University in 2018. He completed his internal medicine residency here at the University of Utah in 2022 after being Chief resident for a year.

Dr. Nagesh Gullapalli is a second year Cardiovascular Disease fellow. He graduated from Medical School from the Gandhi Medical College in 1997. He completed his residency at Wright State University in 2004 and worked at the University of Nevada in a hospital appointment until 2022.

Dr. Vincent Huang is a second year Cardiovascular Disease fellow who received his medical degree from University of Cincinnati College of Medicine in 2020. He completed his internal medicine residency here at the University of Utah in 2022.

Dr. Shannon Myers is a second year Cardiovascular Disease fellow who received her medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine in 2018. She completed her internal medicine residency here at the University of Utah in 2022 after being Chief resident for a year.

2023-2024 First Year Fellows

Dr. Aleks Abrahamowicz is a first-year Cardiovascular Disease fellow at the University of Utah. She completed medical school at the University of Washington in 2019. She also completed her Internal Medicine residency at the University of Washington in 2022 and held an appointment as a hospitalist there for a year until her arrival in Utah.

Dr. Tally Desmarais is a first-year fellow in the Cardiovascular Disease program at the University of Utah. She received her MD degree from the University of California, San Diego, in 2020. She also completed her internal medicine residency there in 2023.

Dr. Hanna Fanous is a first-year fellow in the Cardiovascular Disease program. She received her MD degree from Texas A&M University in 2020 and completed her internal medicine residency at Dell Medical School in 2023.

Dr. Ashley Goodwin, MD, is a first-year fellow in the Cardiovascular Disease program at the University of Utah. She received her MD degree from Ross University School of Medicine in 2019. She completed her internal medicine residency at the University of California, San Francisco, in 2023.

Dr. Christian Klein, MD, is a first-year fellow in the Cardiovascular Disease program at the University of Utah. He received his MD degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School in 2020. He completed his internal medicine residency at the University of Washington in 2023.
