Clinical Research
Many physicians in the department are involved in investigator-initiated studies. These are protocols designed and written by our physicians and may receive funding from outside sources such as pharmaceutical companies, professional societies, or government agencies.
Investigator-Initiated Studies Investigator-initiated studies may enroll subjects into clinical trials, or they may be entirely retrospective.
Retrospective Studies In retrospective studies, potential subjects are identified through databases or medical records. Investigators and their research staff use information gained from medical chart review to investigate relationships between subjects and such variables as alternative methods to treat subjects, outcomes of medical treatment, and outcomes of drug therapies.
