bairThe current direction of my research focuses on developing novel care delivery models for older adults that improve patient focused care, quality of care outcomes, and have a positive impact of resource utilization and costs. Some of the current projects underway include:

A Dementia Treatment Clinic Model: designed to evaluate individual treatment response to FDA approved agents for the treatment of dementia. Simple tools are used by patients and care providers to communicate with prescribers in a clinic setting to determine if symptomatic improvements warrant medication continuation.

The use of a non-disease focused interactive, web-based, care management system to determine the impact on selected measures of health care quality, utilization patterns, and patient satisfaction.

Measurement of the impact of a Geriatric High Risk Evaluation and Liaison team (GHELP) on a medical system of care on patterns of resource utilization, medication refills, medication discrepancies, and selected quality of care measures.

Measuring the prevalence of decision making capacity impairment in a primary care setting using previously used tools and evaluating the impact on care delivery plans for the impaired vs. non impaired individuals.
