Mark Supiano, MD - Professor, Division Chief, and Director, Salt Lake City GRECC
Dr. Supiano's clinical interests include disorders of blood pressure regulation in older people - especially hypertension. Recent clinical studies have focused on the regulation of sympathetic nervous system function in older humans with hypertension and heart failure. Results from his studies have provided evidence for increased systemic sympathetic nervous system activity (beyond that observed as a function of aging) in each of these disease states.
Dr. Supiano's research program has been distinguished by a record of continuously funded investigation in patient-oriented research, and has focused on characterizing sympathetic nervous system function in aging humans. His research has been recognized with awards from the American Geriatrics Society and the Gerontological Society of America.
