Medical residents and trainees in Utah: The University of Utah's Health Sciences Complex has grown continuously since its inception. Annually approximately 525 residents and fellows acquire and develop knowledge in a variety of medical and surgical programs at the University of Utah Medical Center. The University’s unique geographical location and its service to a six-state area allow for a diverse case mix and high patient volume, giving residents and fellows the extensive hands-on training they needed to become superb clinicians.

Housing
There are many houses, condominiums, and apartments available to rent or own near the University of Utah campus and downtown Salt Lake City. Entertainment
Salt Lake City and Park City are alive in the summer with outdoor concerts at the Gallivan Center, Usana Amphitheater, Red Butte Garden, Deer Valley and Park City Mountain Resort. A multitude of private clubs in Salt Lake and Park City host a variety of bands performing year round.
Every February Park City hosts the acclaimed Sundance Film Festival, with several venues being held in Salt Lake City. Year-round performances of ballet, symphony, opera, plays, musicals and more can be seen at Kingsbury Hall or Pioneer Memorial Theater on the University of Utah Campus, or at Abravanel Hall, the Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center, or the Capitol Theater in downtown Salt Lake City. Films are available for viewing throughout the year by the Salt Lake City Film Center.
Salt Lake City is home to many sports teams: Our NBA team the Utah Jazz play at the downtown EnergySolutions Arena; Our national league soccer team Real Salt Lake plays at Rio Tinto Stadium. We are also home for the minor league baseball team The Salt Lake Bees and and Salt Lake Grizzlies hockey team. Discount tickets for many games are available thru the Graduate Medical Education Office.
Restaurants/Shopping
There are numerous fine restaurants in the Salt Lake Valley and surrounding ski resorts, ranging from traditional American cuisine to Japanese, Chinese, Indian, Italian, Thai, Mexican and even Sudanese fare.
Indoor, outdoor walking malls, and private businesses make shopping in Salt Lake City easy. The new Gateway Center is downtown, and many quaint shopping areas are located at 15th and 15th, 9th and 9th, Trolley Square Mall, Foothill Village and the Sugarhouse district. Nearby Park City has a large outlet mall as well as many unique shops lining its Main Street.
During summer months, downtown Pioneer Park has the Saturday Farmers’ Market, with fresh fruit and vegetables from local/regional farms, arts and crafts from local artists, and booths selling fine cuisine from local restaurants.
Religion
Salt Lake City is home to many religious denominations and numerous stately church structures worthy of a tour.
In addition, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is headquartered in downtown Salt Lake City, with powerful genealogy research libraries and weekly performances by the world-renowned Mormon Tabernacle Choir.
