Tutoring
The educational transition to medical school can be challenging and demanding. To assist students with these demands, the Learning Resources office offers free and unlimited tutoring to all medical students at the University of Utah. Tutors are generally medical students who are selected by course directors. Occasionally graduate students may also serve as tutors.
Any medical student may request a tutor from the Office of Learning Resources. Some students use our tutoring services once a semester, others once a week, and others more frequently. Our office is committed to helping each student formulate and implement a successful plan.
The goal of tutoring is to enhance students' learning by helping them achieve a greater level of understanding that will result in improved course grades and long-term retention of content material. The tutor will encourage and direct, but each student must accept personal responsibility for his/her educational progress. Working with a tutor affords students the opportunity to discover the learning and study methods that work best.
