Submit Abstract
Eight outstanding abstracts will be selected for oral presentation. All others will be presented in poster format. Three exceptional abstracts by trainees will be selected for ISA Travel Awards.

Abstracts should be written in English. Please limit the body of the abstract to 3,000 characters, not including spaces. One figure or table may be included. Abstracts are limited to six authors; please list the presenting author first. Use generic names in place of trade names and define all abbreviations when they are used for the first time.
The abstract should be submitted as an e-mail attachment in Microsoft Word format. The title of the abstract should be listed first, followed by the authors and their affiliations.
Structure the body of the abstract using the following headings.
- Objective: Introduce the study’s objectives and purpose
- Design: A description of the study design
- Materials and Methods: The experimental techniques used and statistical evaluation
- Results: A summary of the study’s new, previously unpublished findings
- Conclusions: State the study’s conclusions
- Support: Identify all sources of financial support for the research or indicate “none”if appropriate
The abstract should be submitted by e-mail to malegeneticsabstracts@hsc.utah.edu. The body of the e-mail should include the following information.
- Contact information for the corresponding author including name, e-mail address, telephone, FAX, and mailing address
- Statement of disclosure
- A statement indicating if the abstract can be considered for oral presentation, or poster only
- A statement indicating if the principal author would like to be considered for a Trainee Travel Award (please see criteria)
Poster or Oral Presentations
- All abstracts will be considered for oral presentation, unless otherwise indicated in the submission e-mail.
- Dimensions for poster presentations will be described to the corresponding author with notification of abstract acceptance.
- Oral presentations will be 10 minutes in length followed by 5 minutes for questions and discussion. Presentations must be prepared in PowerPoint format (no 2x2 slides), and LCD projection equipment will be provided. A preparation room and Audio-visual specialist will be available. Please bring your presentation burned onto a CD and give it to the Audio-visual specialist the day before your scheduled presentation.
Trainee travel Awards
Three Trainee ISA Travel Awards will be will be granted. Selection of the award winners will be based on the originality, significance, and quality of the abstract submitted.
In order to be considered for a Trainee Travel Award you must meet the following criteria.
- Be the first author
- Be a graduate student, resident, or fellow
- Be willing to give an oral presentation
- Indicate that you would like to be considered for the award
Abstract Acceptance Notification
The corresponding author will be notified by email of abstract acceptance by December 15, 2009.
