Neuro-Immunology
Four neuro-immunology laboratories actively involved in basic science research at the University of Utah are run by neurologists: Drs. Burns, Fujinami, Greenlee, Rose, and Tsunoda. One laboratory is located in the Eccles Institute of Human Genetics and supported in part by the Howard Hughes Institute, one in the University of Utah Medical School, and two are housed in the Salt Lake Veterans Administration Hospital research wing.
Both medical students, masters level, and PhD trainees serve as active participants in this work, having contributed to the specific areas of paraneoplastic neurology, confocal microscopy in immune mediated axonal damage, T-cell trafficking, as well as many other areas.
