Department of Neurology

Stroke / Neurovascular Fellowship

 

     1-2 year fellowship, 1-2 fellows per year

     Great balance of clinical volume with care delivered in an evidence-based, compassionate manner

     Fellows receive training at state-of-the-art Stroke Center that offers comprehensive services including a rapid-response “brain attack” team approach for all strokes

          Pre-hospital notification, 24/7 intra-arterial therapy, and innovative Telestroke program

     The University of Utah is the referral center for stroke over a 4 state area resulting in high patient volume and a large variety of vascular pathology

     Training and supervision by 6 stroke attendings

     Rotations include neuro-radiology, neuro-intervention, neuro-critical care, and rehabilitation, with options to study echocardiograms and TCD’s

     Outpatient experience: stroke clinic (once per week)

      Opportunity to participate in multi-center trials and independent investigator-driven research, as well as develop and execute individual research projects

     Q4 night/weekend acute stroke call

     ACGME accreditation application is currently in progress with expected accreditation by July 2010
