Residency
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Utah offers outstanding clinical training in an academic environment ideally situated at the base of the Wasatch Mountains. Residents receive extensive clinical experience in all facets of obstetrics and gynecology including:

The number of surgical cases, high-risk obestetric patients and transports, and breadth of experience are among the finest in the country.
The department has an extensive outreach system so that residents are exposed to obstetrical and gynecological practices in both academic and community settings. The focus of our program is to ensure that all of our graduating residents are excellent clinical obstetricians/gynecologists. However, there also is an emphasis on evidence-based medicine and academic training.
Our residents:
- prepare numerous conferences and lectures,
- participate in quality research,
- and are exposed to nationally and internationally recognized reproductive scientists.
Over the past five years, approximately one third of our graduates have undertaken subspeciality fellowships in all of the major disciplines in obstetrics and gynecology.
