UITN: Trial of Mid-Urethral Slings (TOMAS)
TOMUS is a randomized clinical trial that will compare the efficacy and safety of retropubic mid--urethral sling (Tension Free Vaginal Tape) and transobturator mid-urethral sling (Tension Free Vaginal Tape-Obturator (TVT-O or Monarc)). Both procedures are commonly used to treat stress urinary incontinence.
PFDN: Outcomes Following Vaginal Prolapse Repair and Mid-Urethral Sling (OPUS) Trial
The overall objective of this randomized clinical trial (RCT) is to determine whether symptom-specific treatment of incontinence after prolapsed surgery is equally effective to prophylactic treatment by adding TVT at the time of the prolapsed surgery among women with anterior vaginal prolapsed but without pre-operative symptoms of stress urinary incontinence.
The trial also has a patient preference trial (PPT) component. The RCT is presented to all eligible subjects. Those who wish to participate in the RCT are enrolled and randomized. However, those who decline to participate in the randomized trial because they prefer not to be randomized are invited to participate in the PPT instead; those subjects receive therapy of their choice and are followed using the same follow-up protocol as in the RCT.
PFDN: Ambulatory Treatments for Leakage Associated with Stress Incontinence (ATLAS)
ATLAS is a randomized clinical trial that compares three interventions for stress urinary incontinence in women: intravaginal continence pessary; behavioral therapy including pelvic floor muscle training, exercise, and bladder control strategies; or a combination of the two.
