Andrew E. Anderson, Ph.D.
Research Assistant Professor

Dr. Anderson received his Bachelor's of Science degree in Biomedical Engineering from Michigan Technological University and earned his Doctor of Philosophy in Bioengineering from the University of Utah. He completed a short postdoctoral fellowship in the Orthopaedic Research Laboratory at the University of Utah prior to promotion to Research Assistant Professor in December, 2007. Dr Anderson also holds an academic appointment in the Department of Bioengineering. His research interests and areas of expertise include computational modeling (finite element analysis), medical image data analysis, imaging (CT and fluoroscopy), and bone and soft tissue experimental biomechanics. His primary research is directed at developing and analyzing patient-specific finite element models of young adults with abnormal hip morphology and development and implementation of a unique biplanar x-ray system, which is capable of accurately quantifying joint kinematics in-vivo. He reviews for the Journal of Biomechanics, Journal of Biomechanical Engineering, Computer Methods in Biomechanics and Bioengineering, and Computer Methods and Programs in Biomedicine. His society memberships include the Orthopaedic Research Society, Biomedical Engineering Society, and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.
