Dr. David James Petron, is a primary care orthpaedic/sports medicine specialist. He originally trained in family practice and then completed a fellowship in primary care orthopaedics and sports medicine at Michigan State University.

Dr. Petron is the Director of Primary Care Sports Medicine and the team physician for the University of Utah athletic teams. He is also a team physician for the U.S. Ski Team and is the Medical Director for the Park City Ski Injury Clinic.

David Petron, M.D. specializes in non-operative treatment of the spine, shoulder, knee, ankle, and foot problems. He performs many fluoroscopically guided procedures to alleviate pain, such as; epidural injections of the spine, selective nerve root blocks, facet injections, and various procedures for vertebral body and disc related problems. He also has a special interest in overuse injuries that lead to tendonitis. He utilizes the latest treatments for this, including shock wave therapy (Sonarex), for chronic tendon problems.

He has training in the diagnosis and treatment of sports hernia (athletic pubalgia) and hip problems such as femoral acetabular impingement.

Dr. Petron also has a special interest in all nonoperative treatments for osteoarthritis and performs various injections (such as Synvisc) to alleviate joint pain.
