Dr. PowellAmy P. Powell, MD is a board certified Sports Medicine physician serving as a team physician for the University of Utah Utes. She specializes in the care of athletes and active people of all ages, focusing on attaining and maintaining a patient's physical performance goals.

Dr. Powell received her undergraduate degree from Smith College, where she competed in swimming and tennis at the collegiate level. She received her medical degree from the University of Washington, followed by residency training in internal medicine at the Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle, Washington. Dr. Powell pursued subspecialty training in sports medicine at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, where she worked with athletes of all levels from "weekend warriors" to professional football, hockey, and basketball players.

Dr. Powell's clinical interests include non-surgical management of musculoskeletal problems afflicting active people across the lifespan. She has specific clinical interests in prevention and management of injuries in the female athlete, metabolic bone disease, and non-surgical management of osteoarthritis in active patients.
