Current Research
Building the Future of Orthopaedics Through Research
Current SARC projects involve:
- A molecular classification of selected sarcomas using cDNA gene expression profiling.
- Validation of the applicability of transcontinental transfer of tumor samples for use in cDNA microarray gene expression profiling.
- Identification of differences in the gene expression profiles of sarcomas and normal mesenchymal cells subjected to sub-lethal doses of the chemotherapeutic agent doxorubicin.
- Defining the influence of growth factors on gene coexpression.
- Modulating the Fas-induced death pathway (FADD) with epidermal growth factor.
- Determining the impact of nutrient depravation on the expression profiles of sarcomas and normal mesenchymal cells.
- Documenting the influence of epidermal growth factor and transforming growth factor alpha on desmoid tumor invasiveness and drug sensitivity.
- Clarifying the influence of cooperative cell-cell communication on the survival of cells subjected in vitro to a chemical insult.
