The Harold K. Dunn, M.D., Orthopaedic Research Laboratory engages in major research efforts that advance the knowledge and application of orthopaedics. From cutting edge technology to biomechanics, the research being done at the Orthopaedic Center is changing the way patients are being treated.
The Harold K. Dunn Orthopaedic Research Laboratory is a 6000-square-foot facility located at University of Utah Orthopaedic Center. The Research Lab is staffed by two full time Ph.D. research scientists/ faculty members, a research engineer, a research technician, and an administrative assistant. The Orthopaedic Research Laboratory is committed to supporting the research of the physicians in all subspecialties including Adult Reconstruction, Basic Science, Foot/Ankle, Hand, Pediatrics, Spine, Sports, Trauma, and Tumor.
The Orthopaedic Research Laboratory has been operating since the 1970s and has been an established leader in developing and integrating new models and technologies for biomechanics. Funding for the laboratory is a mixture of departmental funds, service work contracts, and peer-reviewed grants.
