CONFERENCES
Each individual hospital or service has its own weekly teaching conference. Every Wednesday, there is a residency-wide Grand Rounds at the University Hospital. The topics are varied, but include case presentations, outside speakers, fracture topics, and morbidity and mortality discussion. Wednesday conference is designed primarily for teaching of the resident staff, in which residents are asked to evaluate and discuss cases in detail, integrating basic science information.
There are also three hours of didactic sessions during the week for all residents. All subspecialty areas teach their core curriculum and basic science topics on a rotating basis. Sessions also include practice management and ethics of medicine issues.
