The Department of Pathology is happy to welcome Brian Evavold, PhD. Dr. Evavold has recently arrived in Utah, and will serve as Professor in the M&I Division.
Dr. Evavold holds a BA in Biology and Chemistry from St. Olaf College and received his PhD from the University of Chicago. He later completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Washington University, focusing on T cell responses to altered peptide ligands.
Most recently, Dr. Evavold held the rank of Professor at Emory University, where his research interests focused on understanding the mechanisms and outcomes of T cell activation in response to antigen. He traces his interest in T cells back to his undergraduate education, crediting an immunology class he took during a recession with sparking his interest in the field.Growing up in Minnesota, Dr. Evavold always wanted to live near the mountains. Although work brought him to Utah, he is excited to explore the mountains and take advantage of the outdoor opportunities that living here brings.
