Academic Activities

  • William M. McMahon, M.D. is a psychiatrist with fellowship training in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry and Medical Genetics. His current research focuses on the genetics of autism, Tourette’s Disorder and suicide. In the 1980’s, he was a member of the team that found all known individuals with autism in the state of Utah. He is now studying the quality of life of those individuals in adulthood.
  • Dr. McMahon mentors residents and graduate students in defining the phenotypic assessments relevant to genetic studies of autism, Tourette’s Disorder, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, suicide and nicotine addiction. He participates in studies of the epidemiology of autism and related developmental disabilities.
