Living in Salt Lake allows our residents to not only enjoy the amenities and conveniences of a big city, but to be a stone's throw away from all that the Utah wilderness has to offer.  Many residents get ski passes from surrounding world class ski/snowboard resorts (who, by the way, offer amazing summer and fall concerts and festivals) at college student rates- and with the lifts only 30 minutes away from the hospitals, residents can find time to get up to the mountain on even the busiest rotations!  The area also offers incredible rock climbing, a lifetime's worth of hikes, world renowned wild flowers, snow-showing, mountain biking, white water rafting, and more.  The Valley is also home to the most famous piece of the 70's Earth Art Movement, the Spiral Jetty, and to the great Salt Flats, as seen in many Hollywood films.  When we head out of the city, some of the best weekend and vacation trip destinations include Zion, Moab, Bryce Canyon, Grand Escalante National Park, the Grand Tetons, Yellowstone, and the Uinta Mountains.  Natural wonders abound in Utah, and it's never surprising to experience something new and unexpected!

The City of Salt Lake has much to offer in addition to the spectacular mountains and national parks that surround.  One of the biggest highlights is the Gallivan Center downtown, which offers free summer concerts pulling in famous bands from around the nation, free outdoor movie showings, winter ice-skating, and winter sports shows and competitions.  Salt Lake is also home to many of the Sundance Film Festival showings in January, to which we can obtain low-priced locals only passes.  Multiple city parks offer great spots for barbeques, and unexpected local restaurants, coffee chops, bakeries, markets, and cafes pop up everywhere.  Spending time in the city offers opportunities for road biking adventures, Ultimate Frisbee, soccer teams, kickball leagues, Gallery Strolls, a nationally known city library, diverse yoga/meditation studios, two massage schools, and a wide variety of international and art festivals.
