Eccles Institute of Human Genetics

The George and Dolores Eccles Institute of Human Genetics, dedicated in 1990, is the focal point for genetic research at the University of Utah. The Department of Human Genetics is dedicated to studying the genetic control of development and disease.

The Department is situated in the Eccles Institute of Human Genetics at the University of Utah School of Medicine in close association with the Programs in Molecular Medicine, Genomic Medicine/Personalized Health Care, and the Center for Human Genome Research. Our researchers collaborate closely with these programs and many others around the University of Utah.

Our mission also includes teaching and outreach. Our faculty actively participate in graduate education. EIHG houses graduate programs in Genetic Counseling and Molecular Biology as well as the Genetic Science Learning Center, a program that develops science and health education materials for the public and public educators.
