Primary Childrens Medical Center
Primary Childrens Medical Center (PCMC) is the major primary and tertiary care center for pediatric patients in the Intermountain West.
The present facility, which opened in 1990, is adjacent to the University of Utah Health Sciences Center and comprises 164 beds. Clinical services include a 26-bed state -of-the-art pediatric intensive care unit, a 36 bed neonatal intensive care unit, a 20-bed rehabilitation wing, and facilities for both inpatient and outpatient care.
Primary Children's Medical Center is a 232 bed facility which serves five surrounding states. In the year 2002, pediatric patient visits totalled 183,215 in each in-patient, out-patient, and emergency room visits. Providing the highest acuity level in pediatric hospitals, over 40 pediatric specialty clinics and over 60 medical specialties and subspecialties are represented here. Various specialty wards include a 30 bed infant unit, a state of the art newborn intensive care unit, and a 26-bed rapid treatment room for children requiring a hospital stay of less than 24 hours.
