IRB Dose Calculator
The following dose information should only be used for prospective, human-use research involving the use of radiation. While the information is representative of actual dose a patient is expected to receive, it should not be used to replace proper dose determination for specific patients who have undergone diagnostic procedures involving the use of ionizing radiation.
Below are some of the more frequently requested dose information tables. This information should be cut and pasted into the RPR48 A or B. The information is given for a single procedure. If more than one will be requested for the study, simply multiply the dose values by the total number of procedures to be performed and change the total dose values.
If there is a procedure that you need that is not listed below, please contact the Medical Physicist. When requesting dose information, please clearly state the procedure(s), number of each procedure, age of the prospective study participants, and any other information that may affect the dose determination.
Basic consent language for communicating the risk from the radiological procedure(s) can be found here.
(note that all doses are for Adults, contact Medical Physicist if need Pediatric doses)
