Senior Elective Year Program
The senior year curriculum at the University of Utah School of Medicine consists primarily of elective courses, permitting students to develop a schedule which best fulfills their own needs.
The Curriculum Committee is responsible for developing, coordinating and evaluating the elective program so that a wide range and adequate number of stimulating, organized, and well-taught elective courses are offered. Guidelines have been developed to define certain aspects of the elective program. They are outlined in this catalog and will help both students and faculty advisors prepare for the senior year.
Faculty advisors are available to counsel students in selecting the most suitable elective program and to provide guidance regarding residency training and career choice.
Copies of course objectives are on file in the Office of Medical Education.
The Office of Student Affairs is prepared to assist students in matters relating to the elective program.
