Working in the Huntsman Cancer Institute at the University of Utah (HCI), the Department of Surgery’s Section of General Surgical Oncology is part of a network of highly trained physicians and investigators that comprise University of Utah Health, a National Cancer Institute (NCI) designated cancer center and National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN), which is an alliance of 21 of the world’s leading cancer centers. We are the only NCI designated and NCCN hospital in the state of Utah.
We are pleased to be part of University of Utah Health, which have been ranked in the top 10 in quality for the past three years by the national University Health System Consortium. Our surgeons and investigators work collaboratively with medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, pathologists, radiologists, plastic surgeons, genetic counselors, nutritionists, oncology nursing staff, and social workers to elaborate personalized cancer treatment plans. Patients benefit from discussion of their treatment plans in weekly multidisciplinary tumor board conferences and from innovative treatment protocols and clinical trials.
