The Office of the Ombudsman and the Facilitation Service
Michael B. Cohen, MD, founding Ombudsman for University of Utah Health (U of U Health), will be leaving the ombudsman service this summer to join the faculty at another academic medical center. The ombudsman service is extremely grateful for his efforts to organize and implement ombudsman services at U of U Health. He is a tremendous asset to the organization and will be missed.
Lauren Clark, RN, PhD, FAAN, Professor, College of Nursing, has joined the service as a new Ombudsman, effective July 1, 2017. Dr. Clark has many years’ experience as a health care professional. She is nationally and internationally recognized for her qualitative research, with particular focus on health inequities and marginalized groups. Dr. Clark has been a member of the Faculty Facilitation Service team for the past year.
Dr. Clark will join Dr. Jim Ruble as Ombudsman for U of U Health. The ombudsman is an independent, confidential, informal, and impartial resource for members of the U of U Health community with a problem or concern. We provide informal conflict resolution and work to promote fair treatment and fair process. The ombudsman administratively reports to Rory Hume, DDS, PhD, Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs and Education and Dean, School of Dentistry.
