CA-1 Orientation Wrap-Up: A Strong Start for the Class of 2028

Orientation launched on July 1 with a full schedule designed to prepare residents for clinical excellence and community connection. The month-long onboarding experience included tech setup, simulations, and foundational lectures on everything from airway management and disaster preparedness to managing hypotension and ventilator basics.

Residents participated in high-fidelity simulation labs to sharpen clinical skills and engaged in interactive lectures led by outstanding faculty like Drs. Michelle Curtis, Candace Chang, Rachel Danowit, Kasi Goodwin, Steve Sams, Elizabeth Thackeray and many others. Training also emphasized key concepts such as infection control, managing acute hemorrhage, and anesthesia machine checkout procedures.

Beyond the classroom, orientation fostered opportunities for team bonding and community-building—including a welcome BBQ and pool party generously hosted by Department Chair Dr. Talmage Egan.

Thank you to our education team, administrative staff, and faculty for creating such a dynamic and welcoming start to residency. We’re excited to support this talented new class as they begin their journey in anesthesiology!
