Celebrating Our November Senior Resident Presentations
This November, three of our senior residents took center stage to share months of hard work, careful research, and thoughtful reflection during the Department of Anesthesiology’s Senior Resident Presentations.
Nick Reid, MD, opened the series with “Remimazolam: Same Receptor, Smarter Kinetics.” His presentation explored how remimazolam fits into the evolving landscape of anesthetic agents—inviting the audience to consider not just what we give, but why and how we tailor its use to patient needs.
He was followed by John Geissinger, MD, who presented “Trauma Anesthesiology: Bridging ATLS Principles & Perioperative Management.” Dr. Geissinger highlighted the high-stakes intersection between trauma resuscitation and the operating room, focusing on how anesthesiologists can seamlessly integrate ATLS principles into perioperative care for some of our sickest patients.
The following week, Victoria Ashlock, MD, took a step back in time with “The History & Evolution of Anesthesia.” Her talk traced the specialty’s journey—from its earliest days to modern practice—reminding us that today’s standards and innovations are built on generations of curiosity, courage, and continuous improvement.
Together, these presentations showcased the breadth of anesthesiology—from drug kinetics to trauma care to the history that grounds our specialty. They also reflected the dedication of our senior residents, who continue to balance clinical responsibilities with the rigor of scholarship and teaching.
